Was just reading about Jinnah and his daughter Dina who married Neville Wadia the scion of Wadia clan of shipbilders or the people who own Bombay Dyeing
or to the bollywood updated - the grandmother of Ness -Preity Zinta`s bf on wiki.
The lives of Jinnah, Rattanbai Petit and Dina are a definite read .

Here are excerpts from the wiki which might give you an insight into the persona called Muhammad Alibhai Jinnahbhai Khojani a man who over the years degenerated from being a modernist secular legal eagle of his time to an islamist with pseudo secular views.

though i don't see it happening for a very long time ...

I have seen over the years the Peoples Jinnah hall made as a memorial towards the man using public donations right next to the very infamous Congress house at Opera hse/Grant Rd, made famous by people professing the worlds oldest profession, but never once heard about or seen his Mumbai residence the Jinnah house, now part dilapidated ... where the seeds for the two nation theory and pakistan might have been sown.

Now Malabar hill and Banganga is a place i sometimes visit early in the morning, just to talk a walk or cycle or get some peace of mind, because u see govt spends a lot of money to maintain the roads out there thanks to their being Grade A roads and all the ministers having residences there i dont want to name names but most Ncp and Congress leaders stay there.
Its kinda funny the govt spends most tax rupees on roads where our netas stay- who by the way are a Biggest drain on the exchequer thanks to their sal ...oops i really meant Perks and im not talking about the slush money they get.
In comparison most roads where govt earns lots of revenue like say a Lamington Rd (E/c mkt) Opera Hse (diamond mkt) or say Princess Street Kalbadevi (cloth/Fmcg Mkts) or say Zaveri Bazar (Jewellery Mkt) or back alleys of Dalal Street(Stock mkt) or say the road towards the Airport (lined wt Zopadpattis cultivated by Congressmen) are in a pathetic state.
We are facing traffic and worse parking nightmares already thanks to people having 2 or more cars, next in line, soon Mumbai- the economic capital of India will lack 24 hr E/c supply as Mercury will soar and the exuberant Mumbaikar will switch on them 1.5 tonne Korean A/cs sold cheaply at Rs 16000.Finally we well get a dose of what the rest of the state has been suffering for at least 4 hrs a day for the last couple of months... ... the dreaded POWER CUT. Dont worry if the govts function this way it wont be long that we will have to face Water rations and cuts too say in another 5 yrs.

So much to the talk of making Mumbai into a Shanghai - great Lip service of course given by none other than the great PM Manmohan and his Finman PC and his adverts coaxing people to pay taxes that go into building Roads , Bridges Dams, Rail etc. Someone should Show me the Roads, Show me Railways that people can travel in without being super crushed and show me some basic Infrastructure and of course take some responsibility and act fast. Hey the BRO can do it in god forsaken or i may say godly Ladakh then why cant the state ?Do we have to expect army rule to get some actual work done ?
Someone in the press should raise this issue, just as the India shining campaign had been raised.

Ok not digressing form the main issue here i did track that place and guess where it was ?Among the residences of power brokers like the V Patils and A Powars and old world textile barons like Khataus . tucked away in greenery Jinnah house lies at a ninety deg angle and creating a hypotenuse between CMs Bungalow and Sahyadri-the place where the Pm, laloo and likes stay ie the very plush Mah state guest house recently very lavishly renovated, by a state which is submerged in debt, where farmer suicides in Vidarbha are not even reported because of their frequency.

Funny as it may sound did u know that this city owes much to Mr Jinnah who had a very found attachment towards Mumbai and had done lot for this city in his younger days, perhaps much more than most politicians of modern Maharashtra or India ever have in recent times.

Thankfully the forever Pak loving Nehru Gandhi family plans to gift it to Pakistan never materialised and the Vajpayee Govt did not humor Mushys contention of giving the house to Pak for their Mumbai embassy and were planning to hand it over to Wadia. Id personally prefer it to be converted into a public lib or something taking into account the fact that it is evacuee property and state property at that even though Nehru blocked it from being declared as one and we the people need more spaces, hey petit also made libraries like the one opp Metro Cinema at dhobi talao, Sadly the family or their cronies are at it again the defenceless bongling bong Pronobda is planning to hand it over to pakis
as Ashok Dhamjia rightly pointed it out, hope Bal Thackarey is listening and acting .

well she is an ideal that most arab and muslim and in general secular people should follow

First all this video rebuffs all the bush logic that that channel has a single point agenda of being pro terror and secondly i have to admire the guts of that lady when she speaks of clash of civilizations and mostly of things about Islam glossed over by our pseudo secular leadership so as to maintain so called peace and national integration.

In the muslim or islamic world there are a very few women who could be treated as ideals. Most of them would be wives of Muhammad mainly his child bride Aisha, to some it may be the pseudo secularists like Mrs Azmi.

To the radicals it could be Ayesha Andrabi, the radical leader of Dukhtaran-e-Millat who has made it her mission to make every woman in kashmir wear a hijab or burkha.

There are also the unique specimen like Kamala Das who in an interview i saw on tv said that the main motive of changing religion was women get protection and freedom under Islam and hijab, among many to avoid the gaze of men, making me wonder - who does she think she is?
Well she is now partially regretting her decision as nothing much has changed on ground, and is things stand she is now a second class individual as per actual practice of Islam in India.

To me an ideal woman if there is one ...
in India is the very witty and intelligent Shania NC ( technically she is half muslim as she is born out of a hindu muslim marriage, and the congress talks of national integration and all.

Shariat in Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh

I only hope this is not another one sided contract like the Indus water treaty or simpla pact in which pakis got what they wanted , and in exchange we got raddi to keep, but who knows bureaucracy always likes raddi.

In a move aimed at mainstreaming personal laws governing Muslims in J&K with those followed by Muslims in the rest of India, the lower House of the state Assembly on Friday passed a Bill seeking to apply provisions of the Shariat to Muslims of the state.

The Bill seeks to replace an earlier code that had been in force since Maharaja Pratap’s era which contained several local traditions. It now erases those provisions, seeking to bring Kashmiri Muslims under the ambit of Shariat-based laws that were penned with the Arab interpretation of how Muslims should run their lives and codes on weddings, divorce and sexuality.

The Muslim Personal Law (Shariat) Bill was moved by leader of Opposition and former National Conference minister Abdul Rahim Rather and adopted unanimously. The Bill will now go to the upper House where it is likely to be taken up on February 14.

The bill though giving property rights to women which is good, but looking at the state of the illiterate muslim majority,expect more exploitation of women anyways.
God alone knows what more damning provisions against minority hindus buddhists etc may be included later.

Well i was kinda away from blogging but this article that i read thru google news really got me to cut paste it so that other ppl can read it.

Its funny, the congress/ ncp on one hand show that they r truly (pseudo)secular by blind appeasement of minorities.
But during the recent ganesh chaturti in mumbai in many pandals and many roads leading to the girgaum chaupatti there were big bhagva banners and flags with double lifesize posters of their leadership, which I almost mistook as those of the shivsena. Secondly Sonia got a lot of airtime on many channels garlanding and offering pooja to a character portraying Ram during Ram leela or Durga Puja festival , when she obviously is a roman catholic by heart.
The centre says Pakistan is victim of terrorism while the cm/dcm/dcp maharashtra says that the recent blasts were due to pakistani isi,let and simi.
The whole kashmiri leadership(including those who are either isi sponsored and those whose kin were let off in exchange for some known terrorists) say don’t hang afzal while the centre is silently acting upon their advice.(reminds me of Rajeev and Shah Banoo)
No one in the press is however is talking about the forever rising prices and inflation on one hand and the strict control on interest rates thru coercion of PSU banks by Fm chidambaram.

I recently saw the pro Upa/communist NDTVs mercy debate with Barkha Dutt.I say pro bcause of their reporting style and bcause Roys wife is lady karats sister.
There were eminent lawyers like Mr Sorabji, Experts like Parthasarthy(correct me if im wrong), some oxford English speaking likely leftist historian, and some Advocate, the kashmiri sytruglers like yaseen malik and the jnu lecturer who was freed by the supreme court and lastly the ex cm jnk.
While the debate was lively and interesting and all that what i found was that barkha was cutting in and leading, even with Soli Sorabji. The Kin of the dead Security people or the Kashmiri Pandits who have suffered the terrorism firsthand were however missing, and so was the Bjp who have openly taken a counter position. According to me Barkha chose to infer that because we cant get gazibaba and dawood we are choosing to hang small fry like afzal, who according to the kashmiri bandwagon has not got a fair trial.
The good President Kalam has now sent the file of Afzal to the home ministry for appraisal which means goodbye to him being hanged on 20th.
Most likely our incompetent home minister Mr Patil, whom we all know from his bumbling and fumbling interviews with the media during all the recent terror attacks, will send it to the upa godmother at the AICC and to the Communists.
The UP elections r near and that means no hanging during Ramzan or until the elections are over or never ever. In that event, most likely he will be a free man soon enough as the congress will be keen to set him free during the next Kashmir elections, that is - if there is no kidnappings with him as ransom.

Parliament attack conspirator Mohammad Afzal Guru's family on Thursday met President A P J Abdul Kalam seeking clemency for the convict who is to be hanged later this month. On 3 October, 2006 Mohammad Afzal Guru's family had submitted a mercy petition at Rashtrapati Bhawan seeking clemency for the accused and sought an appointment from the President. The petition was in the name of Mohammad Afzal Guru's wife Tabassum. A family member later told media-persons after the 10-minute audience with Dr Kalam on October 5 2006 at the Rashtrapati Bhawan that the President ''has assured us that he would look into the matter'. Mohammad Afzal Guru's wife Tabassum said that the President would read the petition and look into the matter. Tabassum, who was accompanied by Mohammad Afzal Guru's mother Ayesha Begum, son Ghalib and their two counsels � Nandita Haksar and N D Pancholi �� met the President at 1345 hrs yesterday ( October 5, 2006 ). Speaking in Kashmiri, Tabassum said : ''I told the President that Mohammad Afzal Guru did not get justice at the lower court and High Court and so we had come to him to seek justice. I have faith in the President. India is a democratic country and we must get justice. The President heard us out very patiently. I want the President to pardon our son. My son wants to be a doctor and only if his father were alive, can he realize this ambition'. Meanwhile, Nandita Haksar, counsel for the condemned accused, dramatized the whole affair when she said: 'After Mohammad Afzal Guru's son Ghalib learnt about his father being hanged, he came home, tied a rope to the fan and tried to hang himself saying he wanted to know how much his father would be hurt if he was hanged.'

The innocent citizens of India would like to know whether Tabbasum's husband was seeking to strengthen the forces of democracy in India by assisting in the launch of an armed attack on its democratic citadel - THE PARLIAMENT. What about the dreams of the children of Security and Army personnel who were killed by the terrorists outside our Parliament? Would they not have been in a better position to realise their dreams if only their no less innocent fathers were alive today? Who will answer these questions? Definitely not President Musharraf of Pakistan.

When the Supreme Court of India gave a reasonable judgement in the Shah Banu case in the middle 1980s, Rajiv Gandhi Government gave a helping hand to terrorist Islam by amending the Indian Constitution ! The BJP has decided to approach President A P J Abdul Kalam and the people over its opposition to clemency to Mohammed Mohammad Afzal Guru, sentenced to death in Parliament attack case. BJP is planning to seek an appointment with President Kalam to submit a memorandum against Mohammad Afzal Guru who 'plotted to eliminate the country's political establishment.' BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley has dubbed moves to save Mohammad Afzal Guru from the gallows as acts of 'misplaced sympathy' and alleged that the Congress 'had no strategy in place to tackle terrorism.'

The BJP has also warned the Congress-led Centre of public outrage if it recommended clemency for Mohammad Afzal Guru, and sought an apology from Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad over his mercy calls for the death-row convict involved in the armed attack on Parliament.

Gulam Nabi Azad, the ever-responsible and secular Chief Minister concerning Muslim affairs and never-responsible and ever-casual about Hindu affairs in Jammu and Kashmir, has pleaded for mercy for Mohammad Afzal Guru. The same view has been expressed with Islamic compassion and concern by the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah.

Indian women of global stature and cosmic significance from the point of view of the survival of mankind as a species, like social activist Medha Patkar, Gandhian Nirmala Deshpande and writer Arundhati Roy, are valiantly fighting on behalf of this compassionate and humane terrorist and are making impassioned pleas through the ever sensitive and ever alert mafia of pseudo-secular and anti-Hindu mass media in India today. Watching in silence with pseudo-secular glee is our de-facto woman Prime Minister, ever holding aloft the benign torch of her Christian compassion towards all the minorities in general and the Jihadi terrorists of compassionate Islam in particular. Overseeing all this bizarre drama is a non-performing Parliament. The chief political clown of all this ingloriously contrived and ignoble edifice of pseudo-secularism is the neutral between neutrals, adamant for drift and solid for fluidity, de jure Prime Minister. Does this not complete the vicious circle of Congress / Communist sponsored nation-destroying pseudo-secularism?

The suggestion of some of these great public figures that punishment by death, in order not to be unusual, must be accomplished by molar than by molecular motion seems to me a fancy unwarranted by our Constitution. It will not be desirable even to imagine that terrorist criminals should escape through technicalities which are useless as safeguards to liberty, and only serve to make conviction more a matter of chance.

John Stuart Mill (1806-73) is considered as one of the foremost champions of liberty and liberalism in Victorian England. Influenced by his wife Harriet Taylor, Mill developed a very humane version of liberalism that was very sympathetic to women's rights, labor unions, proportional representation, and other liberal causes. He famous quotation has been quoted by all the freedom fighters in the 19th and 20th centuries: 'If mankind minus one were of one opinion, then mankind is no more justified in silencing the one than the one - if he had the power - would be justified in silencing mankind'. And yet he strongly felt that capital punishment was absolutely necessary to protect the lives of innocent citizens when he spoke against a Bill banning capital punishment that had been proposed by one MP Gilpin in the House of Commons on 21 April, 1868. The British Parliament showed great wisdom by abolishing capital punishment for all crimes other than murder and retained capital punishment only for the offence of murder and terrorism.

In my view the opinions of most public men on important issues are relatively worthless because they don't know the details and it's the details that determine judgement. Generalities don't amount to a hill of beans. Everybody agrees with them. Everybody is for Justice, Right and Decency. Everybody wants security. People who are not in the government, are never aware of the hard and inescapable facts, that men in government have to face or encounter from time to time. That is why Justice Oliver Wendel Holmes said : 'The law is full of generalities which no one can dispute. Ambiguity lurks in generality and may thus become an instrument of social severity. But the point that matters is whether the boy got his finger pinched.' No responsible government can ignore these words of wisdom. The bite of law is its enforcement. There are first duties of citizenship even as there are also first duties of Government. A citizen's first duty is to uphold the law, but it is also a first duty of Government to enforce the Law��to do so by prosecuting and punishing those who violate our criminal laws.

In this context the apposite words of former Chief Justice of India R C Lahoti, spoken on his last day in that high office, become relevant:

'Which penalty is required other than death for this dastardly act? What other punishment is called for? We forget the past.... Human memory fails.... We forget the victims and we only see the accused before us and his family.... We forget the family of those killed, injured and totally uprooted, and I am told of a family whose only surviving member is a small child. People say that death penalty is the only punishment in which you cannot give life back. Ask this man who is the mastermind behind this blast. Can he give the life back of those killed? We forget thousands of those killed and think of only one person. Keeping in view my judicial experience, I personally am of the opinion that it should continue in the Indian Penal Code'.

There are, of course, first duties of citizenship even as there are also first duties of Government. A citizen's first duty id to uphold the law, but it is also a first duty of Government to enforce the law�to do so by prosecuting and punishing those who violate our criminal laws. There is no other way to maintain an ordered and moral society. Nothing can destroy a Government more quickly than its failure to observe its own laws or worse, its own disregard of the charter of its existence. As Justice Brandeis said in one of his historically famous dissenting judgements in 1928; 'Our Government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. If the Government becomes the lawbreaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself. It only invites public anarchy.'

In a interview on Sahara Samay Mumbai, ex IPS Cop Y P Singh roughly mused that the Terrorist Cell active in the State,worked on a war strategy and that the mah police and the intelligence network were too busy to seriously persue them.
Not only are the terrorists able to do blasts at will their suport system is very good thus allowing then to escape while they were posting false evidences to the police to hoodwink the cops and shake them off their trail.
The logistics/ backbone of the terrorists ie the money trail or the hawala network mainly used for money laundering was still robust and the agencies feared touching it for the simple reason that all the Politicians, senior Bureaucrats and Officials had used it sometime or the other or were still using it, leading to ugly revelations.
There was no concerted effort or single minded pursuit of the terrorists as the bureaucratic government structure is too slow to react.
He also said that it was most probable that the low intensity blasts at malegaon were made by the rail blasts cell because of the timers used and it was not possible for the right wingers to procure them
Id like to add that the vote bank politiking Congress Alliance would not persue them as diligently precisely cause of the so called antagonism it would create in the minds of muslims, as pointed by none other than the Prime Minister who said that the Police should not target a particular community or Islamists.

Now the same Manmohan Singh is saying NAM solidarity needed to fight terror Is he nuts or impotent or has Sonia bitchslapped him?
Why is he hoodwinking the nation and has he given up arms and is trying ahimsa against terrorism.
Everyone knows that the NAM was Born half dead the day it was formed and its founders Tito, Nasser and Nehru are also dead, and so is Yugoslavia.

Stamp Paper Scam

Did u ever even attempt to get a stamp paper in ur life?
Well i did before and after the telgi scam and it was quite difficult.
There were constant shortages and one would have to graze palms to procure one instantly. The Rs 10 paper was always out of stock.
Even a month after the scam it took me close to 2 hrs under the hot sun at the Mumbai High Court just to procure a 100Rs stamp paper. There was one little counter and a huge line.A sum of Rs 150 could instantly get me one though.
Still i dont know if the Govt has learnt its lessons though they have started using banking channels for certain hi value transactions.

AK Telgi now slowly dyeing of full blown AIDS namedpeople with a lot of power both from Mumbai and Bangalore that to hesitantly during a Narco analysis test which was leaked 3 yrs after its making.
He also said he still possesses benami property worth 2000 Crores.

The question is whom to trust The Accused or the Politicians ?
or the Doctors conducting the Narco Test or the Media which are trying to show that the tests were being steared in a particular direction.

The scam had to involve someone from the state,centre and the courts and the nasik mint and printing press and of cource the intelligence/police, to create such an artificial shortage for such a long time. Questions unanswered are why was the narco tape leaked that too 3 years after being made? Is it frustration of the officers,who cannot act as NCP and Pawar- just like the CPM and Shri Somnath Chatterjee(oop) is too big a party to touch? Why is the Khang-rees so silent on the issue?

I love the National Song Vande Mataram , and hold it in very high esteem,way higher than the National Anthem - Jana Gana Mana

The Khang-reez is swinging between to sing or not to sing the national song Vande Mataram voluentarily or otherwise. With each day they are giving a different explaination to the need and the implementation method of the notification, stuck between loosing hindu votes, and overt blind appeasement of the so called minority community and their radical leadership ,that too in this current environment
(in islam the state and the religion are one and the same -study the caliphat and the Ahle_Hadees).Slowly khuda haafiz is being changed to Allah hafiz these days.
The problem to the Kangreez is that they are trying to make everyone happy, just as the BJP in 2005 had tried to appease the fatwa issuing shahi imam of Jamma masjid and the AIMPLB, in an attempt to garner a substantial vote during the last elections.What happened instead was that they lost many of the right wing hindus to kangreez.

I hold the makers of the modern India ie the Indian National Congress and especially the first PM Mr Nehru(born a Saraswat Brahmin Kashmiri pandit) and his family most responsible for this predicament.His distinct British brand of socialism and the old british docterine of divide and rule still holds good in the 21st century.

who are free to use them treasuries without substantial accountability literally according to their arbitrary whims.
The rift between the upper castes including the kshatriyas brahmins etc and the lower casts like the dalits or shudras were infact widened by the indefinite extension and rampant abuse (creamy layer including meera kumar)of the 10 yrs reservation implemented by Shri Ambedkar, and worse the attempts of Mandalisation by upper caste Thakur leaders like Vishwanath Pratap Singh. Now they, the normal suspects(including the BJP) are hurrying the the OBC quota thru parliment when the whole matter is subjudice and i dont have any doubt that the President will rubberstamp this bill too,just like he did with the OOP bill, after midnight signing of the bihar bill making me loose complete trust in his abilities to lead by example.

Things are no different with other genuine minorities like the Parsees, the difference being that their leaders are way more educated and sensible, resulting in the community having a social security system and low mortality rate.They are also radical when it comes to tradition,marriages etc leading to a dwindling population.

One must compare this situation to that of Goa which sensibly kept the Uniform Civil Code adopted by the Portuguese(only good thing they did).
Most National parties talk big about SECULARISM, (while i doubt if half of their leaders could spell it correctly) but shy away even from uttering the words Uniform Civil Code which is one of the key foundations of a True Secular state.

Tagore on Vande Mataram

The national anthem Jana Gana Mana was written in bangla by the great Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.
There is a raging controvercy about the true intent with which it was written.
The stanza जन गण मन अधिनायक जय हॆ भारत भाग्य विधाता । translated Thou art the ruler of the minds of all people,dispenser of India's destiny.
Theory 1. was written in praise of God or Vidhata
Theory 2. was written in praise of King Geore V of England
Theory 3. was written in praise of the common man or aam admi

The true intent was foerver lost with the death of Rabindranath Tagore who remained the staunchly silent on this issue during his lifetime.

One cannot however deny that the said song was first sung at the Calcutta session of the Indian National Congress on December 27th, 1911 by the Congress Leadership with the sole intent of praising the King of England King Geore V.

I would like to pay tribute to the legendary Ustad Bismillah Khan Sahib, most of all for living such a glorious and graceful life dedicated to hindustani classical music and the Shehnai.
He will always be known for his humility, simplicity, childlike qualities, and for dedicating his life to music, and understanding the true meaning of god.
Though a devout Shia Muslim , he was also a devotee of Saraswati.
For the Shias, music is haraam (taboo)and is condemed as an act of rape.He said

Can the Alquaeda or Taliban or the Dawa or any other terror agency of repute move funds or collect funds without the knowledge or active cooperation of elements in the govt of Pakistan or ISI? As it is Taliban is being reactivated so that the large Drug revenue from the crimson belt is not denied to the ISI.
The fact is that every attack on India helps Mushy to hold on to his power/post/office by deflecting attension of the paki public from his pathetic record at home and on the kashmir strategy, as much as it helps him to stay in the good books of the west (and be Bushs posterboy) by sacrificing a few pawns in this international hi staked game.

It suits the West and local Indian politicians to turn a blind eye on Mushys overt and covert(using terror/jihad)low intensity war against India including random terror attacks,if and only if they are strictly low intensity and casualty rates are low so that outcry is limited.
All that Western world wants is a safe home front devoid of terror attacks and a few taliban and quaeda elements once in a while so as to shore up their popularity ratings or political TRPs as i call them.

Has Laden or Zawahiri or any big fish ever been caught and handed over to the US?
It is unlikely that the creamy layer will ever be handed over to the Americans alive.

I had been to chk out the R mall at Mulund today and their pvt security was really tight, these people were so on the edge that a mother had to open her babys milk bottle and have some of it to show them that it was indeed milk(not kiddin). I have mixed feelings abt all this security.It is heartening that individuals and corporates are taking their and their patrons security pretty seriously, and people still flock to visit malls,theatres etc and live their life on their own terms not bowing down to the terror threat.
But if i muse over it and think of the bigger picture i simply feel like im getting afflicted by the Boiling frog Syndrome. I may be generalising here but deep down in the mind of every mumbaikar is that lingering doubt or fear, not only of loosing his life and limb but moreso of loosing the life of a loved one.
We are virtually being placed by our vote hungry politicians to the mercy of the terrorists by their deeds and politics of division. They are not at all serious about tackling this terror threat and have not even made a long term strategy so as to counter terrorist ideoligy or radicalism or to tackle its main mentor Pakistan and finanier ISI and the Quaeda and the aam pakistani(chk how the dawa collects funds).
I was musing about how we as citizens could change our lifestyles so as to be that we can counter this menace individually.Ill post on that topic later.

Islamic teaching says there should be one ummah and we have one leader—Prophet Mohammed. The ummah is one unit and we are working on this. This is not just the job of Asiya. It may not be completed in my lifetime. It may be Asiya's son or grandson. It
Yes, this is a long-term goal. And the short-term goal is that we want accession with Pakistan. Not with the idea of Pakistani nationality but inshallah Kashmir will become part of Pakistan, if not today, then some day, it may take decades. IT PAYS to share a prison with a VIP in Tamil Nadu. On Sunday, about 750 prisoners of Coimbatore jail, including 160 arrested for the 1998 serial blasts, enjoyed an Ayurvedic massage.

The reason: in July, Kerala CM V.S. Achuthanandan had intervened to ensure Abdul Nasser Madhani, leader of the Kerala PDP party and the fourth accused in the serial blasts, got a 35-day Ayurvedic treatment worth Rs 50,000. Sunday’s treat was an attempt to prove that such luxury was de rigeur in Tamil Nadu prisons.

CM M. Karunanidhi had sanctioned the treatment for Madhani. But when Jayalalithaa turned on the heat, prison authorities arranged the Sunday camp. The incident is among a list of events that show the DMK government's soft stance towards Muslim fundamentalists. The DMK government has also dropped cases against 12 fundamentalists of Melaplayam.

It has been raining very heavily from yesterday nite and yet again mumbai resembles a bog. Frankly i really dont mind it as this is the first flood that reminds me of childhood days et plus- it is a sunday.
Thanks to the relentless crazy urbanisation of god forsaken corners of this city and massive cutting of marshlands and mangroves by the all powerful builder lobby, Mumbais climate has certainly changed for the worse. Mumbai was known to be a moderate place, no extreme summers and winters and rains were always normal and we had one annual flood.
Rains and floods for a mumbaikar have been kind of routine annual event.
i remember that i have seldom seen a year when our area never flooded, and the floods were a great reason to get a holiday and really chill out and have fun.We got to bunk school, unpack and launch my friends japanese dingy and play in the knee or waist deep flood water.Yes it was a problem for groundfloor residents whose whole house resembled a really messy pool party but things werent that bad overall.
The worst hit are the North Mumbai areas and things for south mumbaikars are almost no different from the yesteryears and places like nana chk lamington rd, still fill up just like before or maybe a bit more than before.

Things are different this year we had a really terribly hot summer and it felt like i was in satara or sangli not mumbai,the rains r sporadic too,it used to rain frequently and the rains lasted for a good 15 minutes to an hour, now it dont rain for 3 /4 days(i dont count 3 minute gods nature calls as rains), and when it rains it is relentless and culminates in a flood.

I think mumbaikars will have to add to the list of things to get used to like terror attacks, apathetic insensitive state and central govt,super overcrowded public transport,regular increase in taxes and zopadpattis etc. Extreme Climate and Heavy flooding.

I can’t quite figure out what is wrong with the BJP after its loss in the general elections and the backfiring of the India shining campaign. What I find is that the current UPa Govt has rather nonchalantly, but quite successfully deflected, their every failure and blunder thanks to the BJP being busy sorting out its own internal squabbles.
It is the hypocritical Commis who are taking the credit of being the leading opposition party on most matters political, even though they are supporting the UPA externally for every political decision they are taking.

To be fair the BJP has had its fair bit of disasters including the sanyasin episode and the killing of Mahajan, who was one of its best faces, brains and organizers.Mr Rajnath Singh though a veteran and seasoned politician, is not the best person to manage the pompous know it all English Press and the Live TV channels.

Most supporters are quite tired of the squabbles and the disunity of command and voice both in the party and the sangh. The party, right now is most lacking a Leader or a united voice, like that of Shri Vajpayee under whom the party stood united and worked in unison.
The best thing for BJP would be to unite and reorganise and for Vajpayee to come out of his retirement to play a kind of a chief mentor like role and get the party back on track as only Vajpayee right now has, as i may put it "the vajan in his awaaz" so that everyone will sit up and listen.

Sadly the the top leadership is in a sort of a timewarp raking up old and useless issues.The comment about jinnah by Mr Advani was totally unnecessary. Everyone knows that he was a practical person who changed his tune according to the requirement, and who in pak gives a damn abt what advani says anyways? Secondly the current controversy surrounding Jaswant Singh’s statement is also backfiring. Even though it’s most likely that there might have been a mole in the Rao govt, the press has successfully inferred that this is a publicity stunt for publicising his book.
One need not say how much the indian print and tv media love the BJP.
The old guard should maintain a dignified silence and work in the background to strengthen the party instead of making a fool out of themselves thanks to the media spin.
It would have been better to raise current issues like current spy rings and moles like the war room leak and Increasing US infiteration into our itelligence establisment,infiltration of radicals in the Forces and the police, the governments failure and lack of will to combat a rise in terrorism,the threat from the masses of bangladeshis and the radicalisation of islam in pockets in kerala and meny other states etc
Also the party should go on the offensive and better present itself like what the Congress does, even though the Congress is failing on most fronts and its very publicized poverty alleviation plan(which grossly lacks accountability as the pm has pinned it on the state govts) is burning a major hole in the govts coffers, as it has already spent half the years budgeted amt in the first quarter.

On the economic front there is a massive rise in real inflation, interest rates, prices of all essential commodities and the difficulty faced by pensioners and investors,with investors earning negative or nil returns on deposits post inflation,
Tds hassles in SCSS etc and corruption and poor record of tax dept to disburse refunds and hounding of honest taxpayers with AIR,proposals for new forms and removal of rebates and deductions, while letting politicians and bureaucrats like laloo who paid rs 10 lakhs in cash for his daughters wedding go scot free, as rightly pointed out by Sucheta Dalal, Perils of EET and demanding TEE model, as pointed out by MrBimal Jalan
The rampant misuse of participatory notes and mauritious route used for investing in the indian markets, by local businessmen and others using havala funds and its potential for market manupulation and misuse by organised crime and terrorists.

Thats not all, the Govt which is the promoter of all oil psus is working in detriment and blatent disregard to the Companys' and small shareholders interests by bankrupting and destroying the Oil navratnas thru ad-hoc subsidy system thus starving them of funds, effecting the staff morale leading to the exodus of employees from theose companies, which in the long term only benifits the beamoth at jamnagar.

For a newsbuff like me blogging is certainly addictive and i have been spending too much time on it, anyways here s one more post:-
I read somewhere about India being a week state, and it is at almost its weakest now looking at the reactions to an ever aggressive pakistan from the khadi clads sitting at delhi. Pak has given India a list of terror camps in India and wants them dismantled
The general is an expert at media manipulation, just like our media is at manipulating or denying or downplaying the radicalisation of muslims in India.
I think the General is right.

Well how come terrorists move in and out of our country with relative ease after commiting these haenous crimes? they need logistics and places to stay and sleep (as in sleeper cells)----im talking about Terror Camps and hideouts .

Everyday the news media- i mean especially the tv media screams about someone being arrested, some network being busted, some threat being neutralised and some plan that the terrorists has to blast/ destroy x place, key members behind the Mumbai train plot namely Faizal Sheikh and his 22-year-old brother Muzammil Rehman being taken into custody.The press and the politicians have mainly blamed

This 24 hr news frezy is somehow cluttering our minds and we are loosing perspective or the bigger picture here.
If the Mumbai Police arrests all of them perpetrators of the Mumbai blasts, the question to ask is - will they ever be prosecuted and sentenced in- say a year? Looks quite doubtful if u trust the courts or the second pillar of the Indian democracy badly in need of a complete renovation like the old buildings of Mumbai.Even if they r tried summarily in a military court which is unlikely and HANGED
will the terror attacks in INDIA stop.........id say NO .
What im getting to is that this will repeat keep repeating and we will have to live with it, until there is real change in the whole thinking. What the govt is doing is like plugging holes in a leaky roof instead of fixing it, and i see that there is no political will either to just change the damn roof or concretise or waterproof it.
These terrorists are working with an Ideology and that is what should be countered.
Just killing a few here and arresting a few there will do no good, we will have to get to that ideology and make sure we effectively counter it.

2. The Intellectual Cowards and Communist INDIAN MUSLIMS -Who are proud to be Indians, modern secular and integrated with society as a whole, id say model citizens but those who are political or semi political people. They are the ones that are in denial or keeping silent about the existence of people coming under category 3 and 4 in our nation.
They loudly rant that terrorism has no religion & we should be united against it, in one breath and in the very next one call the Shiv sena, RSS and other right wingers as radical Hindu fundamentalists out to destroy the secular fabric of this country.

1 and 2 constitute a large but silent minority, im saying this as i have never seen them taking morchas after the Mumbai blasts or say a word or whimper against the people who take out Morchas at Azad maidan against "Vande Maataram", or Dutch Cartoons.

3. MUSLIM INDIANS and their minions of illiterate followers- (MAJORITY) who are muslims first, Indians next and dont mind living in India on the condition that they will have a state within a state sort of survival.
These are the 5 jamaats ruling muslim india and constituting the extrajudicial body called the AIMPLB,who decide- Muslim law in entirety and are above the supreme court (Shah banoo is case and point). They literally rule the majority of illiterate musilms whose only education is in a madarsa funded by the Indian state and/or funded via Zakaat from rich businessmen or from Middle East, issuing fatwas from the jama masjid and other masjids on every aspect of life, and going to any extent so as to maintain their hegemony and say.Their easiest and biggest targets are women.
Fully supported by politicians Imams like Bukhari and a zealot Urdu press they have managed to keep majority muslims feudal, illiterate and in constant denial of facts.(if urdu press have their way the Mumbai blasts were carried out by radical hindus who also carried out the attack on the RSS headquarters)
Religious discipline and indoctrination is stricty enforced as urdu is the primary methd of education and learning it is compulsory.

Well, i was just typing a big post on the hypocracy and duplicity of the current upa govt at the centre and total failure of the indian state to deal with the scurge of terrorism when suddenly my browser just shut down , making me loose an hrs worth of work and typing effort as if it was a sign that all pervading sp-EyE-nx had just gotten into my windows dabba and killed my firefox to issue me a warning sign.

The blog domains have now been unblocked and u can access ur blog and all other blogs barring a few restricticted blogs which id say is overall fine with me
Atleast mtnl adsl has unblocked the ips of blogspot.

hathway mumbai hasnt still removed the ban on blogspot,after the govt, as a face saving measure,issued a diktat to the isps.

Well was too busy as a good taxpaying citizen with taxes as the deadline is 31 of this month. Sometimes i wonder for what? They always collect taxes and when it comes time for refund it takes 6 months at least i havent gt refund for a return filed 2 yrs ago. They keep increasing targets for mumbai and the crazy itos just sit on refunds.Worse is law abiding citizens with small incomes filing returns can be unduely harassed, while large income earners get away by bribing the ito or simply not filing returns.Every CA must be well aware of the 10% rule.

The roads r utter crap,and resemble moon craters and the garbage littered at every street corner fr days on end, and nobody really cares. what is the benifit of living in south mumbai, and having milind deora as a representative? He has done nothing much in my area except show his face during elections and talk about his qualifications, just like any politician, he has not even asked a qn in parliament. we thought he was better but sadly im wrong.At least jaiwantiben had redone the roads once.

Sadly this govt and its leader reminds me about her ma in law and the bad old days of emergency. but they are stuck in a time warp and blocking and banning anything on the net is quite impossible, and anyone can find a workaround in minutes.

Did he hav the guts to walk with 1 or 2 plain clothes policemen among the mumbai public like a common man? if he did probably he would have to face a chappal or two. Just imagine the trouble to commuters. Also imagine the security cover sonia wd have got - they wd have to empty the station for 4 hrs and maybe also a perimeter of 200 metres and put snipers all around mahim to protect her.

Also as i mentioned earlier trains in Mumbai are absolutely filled / crammed / jampacked with people in the rush hour .
The situation is so bad that even transporting chickens in this manner would lead to protests from maneka gandhi and animal rights activists. the terrorists have now made us feel like chickens at their mercy.

the one thing that mumbai now needs is lots of money a good leader and an overhaul of its infrastructure and some tough decision making.
i dont think any of the current bunch of jokers from the bmc to the mmrda to the cm can do it. like it or not we need a single voice from mumbai who would be responsible for all actions taken .. someone like a way better verson of bal thackarey (he did some good for mumbai too)
i would like to put up a charter for things that need to be done so as to make life of a working mumbaikar better.....and as this is the best time asking for it

1.Integrating and organising the local road and rail transport network while removing the mumbai western and central rail from the Central rail network and having a separate fund allocation and dedicated team to oversea it, being solely responsible for all actions taken so as to maintian Unity of command and responsibility.

2. Converting all trains plying passangers in mumbai to modern 12 coach rakes so that the average load per bogie is decreased form 350% to 200% in rush hour.15 coach rakes to be used in rush hour 3 of which should be only for vasai virar long distance travellers and those bogies to be filled only at a few stations.

3. All stations and facilities on stations to be modernised and entry exit points monitered by cctv. Total overhaul and modernisation of platforms.Funding can come by making them 1/2 floored and having food courts and shopping malls on them.
ticket counters to be better managed so that counters are open when they should as per the time table,as normally half the counters meant to be open are shut.
ticketing via atms of banks at stations for bank customers .

4. Toilets at all stations and specally important stations like grant rd,l parel, dadar, bandra, andheri borivli to be made hygenic clean and useable (like churchgate station).

5. Removal or shutting down or better linking of the kurla station used for outbound trains as it is a big nuiscance to just reach there, let alone board a train.

6. Delinking BEST Transport and E/c and the loss making transport dept be subsidised by central govt on lines of metro rail in Delhi.

7. Guarantee and funds from the central govt for doing something about zopadpatti and unadhikrut bandkaam. Guarantee from centre/ supreme court intervention that no state govt will ever extend the date for free housing or settlement of migrants atleast until current zopadpattis r rehoused in a phased manner in next 60 months.
Protecting open spaces parks and gardens etc.

8. Removal of all bangladeshis from mumbais soil and shooting/killing of all history sheater slumlords and criminals not withstanding whichever political party they may be affiliated to or however many cases they have against them as litigation will never bring them to book and they will eventually run their gangs from arthur road jail.

9. A tax/subsidee to be levied on central govt(or states which they belong to) for every person entering mumbai from other states for building a corpus for providing housing to them.
heavy tax to be levied on those people selling free housing given to them so that they cannot make it a source of income and go back to make other zopadpattis and so that the state recovers the cost of the said house and this burden is not borne by middleclass taxpayer.

10. Special rebate or increase in rebate on HRA for mumbaikars as rents here are way above the national average.Also LIC and other insurers should be asked to do viability assessment for creating a policy for mumbaikars agains a terrorist attacks and natural disasters like floods etc so people can subscribe to it.

11. An apolitical mumbai police commissioner and a very good Statewide ATS and zero interference from politicians.
Strict surveillance of all radical muslim mosques and pockets in mumbai and maharashtra by police who should be given a free hand.Arrest of religious minority leaders/politicians especially those that infuriate and radicalise muslim population.
This is done in countries like singapore malaysia and thailand bcause political will exhists there.
Strict surveillance of builders and local politicians contracters and officials and havala operators by a committee Police, ED , press and high court judge or people like khairnar for checking and monitoring corruption.

12. Central/state govts to stop appeasement of minorities.(eg imdt act)(religion or cast based reservation)
Changing the constitution to make strict guidelines for citizenship retrospectively
especially to prevent bangladeshis`/ foreigners children born here from bcoming citizens automatically.
Make tough new laws especially meant for dealing with terrorists.

Removal of article 370 and implementing uniform civil code for all and packing up of AIMPLB and minority commission.

well things will never be the same again
i was on a western rail train today, amazingly there was no semblence of secutity there worse i climbed into a bogie which resembled a kabutarkhana and i suspect was a converted from a mail dabba to a passanger bogie. When will they learn to improve the situatuion and sincerely put some funds to improve mumbai rail.
What i noticed was population vv angry and scared and on the edge. Never had i seen so many ladies in the gen bogie, but with at least a family member with them. well i dont blame them - better to die with a family member rather than anguish about their well being.
the people most scared must be pickpocketers vagabounds and druggies etc. I am sure a few might just get lynched as one was almost thrown out of the train which i was travelling in.
laloo says hum strengthn karange hum kutta khufiya kutto ko lagayenge - ccvt aur kamara lagayenge.rpf ko pasngr safty denge aur equpment se less karnge- We will have lots of security-cctv at imp stations- make the equip the rpf with modern equipment -2nd day and i didnt see any and rpf goons from up bihar? hope they will do no harm..

Instead of putting guards on trains and increasing the gardi (overcrouding), he must decongest the rail and most of all we the citizens should be more responsible and a bit more cautious and look over our sholder. Good regular commuters should be given training in basic safety emergency services and first aid and right to be citizen policemen..
it will be useless to waste too much time on the ssc passed almost anpad gawar rpf guard to be given sofisticated training and equipment only to find out that the equipment has been damaged by his paan tambaku habit.

For a mumbaikar we dont have an option to but to board a train due to its cost efficiency and lack of other options

most mumbai mtnl telephone network has now started working,
in other words its decongested or switched on.
people stuck on the western line r using whatever means like
trucks buses volvos taxis etc to go home.
the police are helping in easing the congestion and helping people reach home

the cm has declared that trrow ie wednesday the 12th will be an official working day and offices colleges n schools will remain open.

it all depends upon the ability of the laloos babus to get the railway nework up and running ... doesnt it
lets see if the great laloo ka rail will manage to start the rail service and the virar fast which is the lifeline of our suburbs and the target of the terrorists.

mumbai western rail network bomb blasts

There have been a total of 8 blasts at around 6.24 pm onwards as per reports there have been around 5 blasts all in the First class compartments and 2 on the platforms on borivli/ virar bound trains on line no 4 at matunga/mahim, khar/bandra santacruz 6.24, jogeshwari, borivli 2blasts 6.26 and mira/bhayanader 6.39 on the Mumbai Western Rail Network mostly on down fast trains in peak rush time jampacked with commuters going home from office.

Sadly as per DGP Maharashtra Police mr Pasricha at least 50 people have been killed and 200 people have been injured. This i think is conservative as i think the total toll will be a lot worse or atleast more than double of estimated.
this i say bcause western rail network handles at least 350% of capacity at peak time btween 5pm and 7pm,and for the last decade no substantial changes or additions or betterments have been made to mumbai rail.

Please pray for the innocent people who have perished and more so for the recovery of injured people. People who can donate blood please rush to hospitals in the effected areas like holy family hospital bandra sion , bhaba hospital etc.

As expected the govt rescue machinary has totally failed and the western rail has now been halted.the govt machinary or ambulance etc have been missing and most rescue has been done by commuters.

This is a fav weapon of the jihadi terror network of pakistan like jem or let and most probably their sleeper cells in muslim ghettos like mumbra, bhivandi behrampada etc could have carried this out

This comes just after the gruesome lynching of 2 police officials at the police station at bhivandi by an irate mob of extremist muslims aledgedly instigated by abu azmi, of the samajwadi party and the raza achademy and the seizure of a large ammount of RDX, detonators and explosives in muslim dominated pockets of maharashtra.

I suspect that the blasts have been carefull orchestrated by one/multiple sleeper cells and mimic the earlier blast paterns on soft targets like that on the LONDON TUBE NETWORK, and especially the old Mumbai blasts done by tiger memon n dawood ibrahim.

The old mumbai blasts of 1993, i must tell u have now become the buleprint of all jihadi networks to do timed almost simultaneous blasts. This is a gruesome tactic used by them. i was in school then and have seen the casualties being ferrried to the jj hospital from the stock exchange blasts.

One thing is clear that there has been a massive failure of the intelligence agencies and the mumbai police in detecting this tragedy.

MUMBAI the financial capital of india or the city of Bombay-
originally consisted of seven islands, namely Colaba, Mazagaon, Old Woman's Island, Wadala, Mahim, Parel, and Matunga-Sion later merged into one city,
now for the last couple of days truely resembles a bog ,

Its like going back into history as mumbai is now breaking up into hundreds of small islands thanks to the floods and to the shear density of people, migrants, zopadpattis and specially greedy politicians and administrative officials and Builders.

a few days of rain have successfully bought this economic juggernaut of a city that runs the cogs of india this never sleeping , allways moving city to a virtual standstill .

im passionate about my city but as things stand now i have slowly bcome frustrated and just feel like leaving this city as fighting the establishment is just plain impossible as corruption and unaccountability have pervaded our system called democracy of this city , state and nation and for simple basic ammenities people have to wait for a lifetime.

i am a third generation marathi speaking (non marathi) mumbaikar living in south mumbai and occurings of late really alarm me.
